Arnold Schwarzenegger Considering Scripts..

.. including WWII Tale ‘With Wings as Eagles’

Now that Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s term as Governator has ended, it’s time to see if he’ll go back to acting in any serious way. A very brief cameo in The Expendables could have been him dipping a toe back into the waters after his years in office, or it could have been a final love note to fans.

Looks like it’s more likely the toe-dip, as the actor recently said, “movie-making is a part of my future plans. Some day the waiting is over again and I’m looking forward to that.” He says he’s looking into three different scripts, including one which must be the WWII storyWIth Wings as Eagles, which  (Braveheart) wrote in 2001.

Arnie told krone.at the following:

Currently I’m reading three scripts. One topic/script, which I considered a long time ago before governor, is delighting me particularly. In it I would play an older soldier, who gets the order at the ending of the war to kill a bunch of kids. But he doesn’t do it and get them to safety at the risk of his life and it has all kind of adventure. This script is based on a true story!

So that script that he mentions in detail has to be With Wings As Eagles, to which he was attached years ago and has been considered a fan’s dream project ever since. Arnie would play a Nazi soldier who aids the escape of American prisoners. TheArnoldFans has the following synopsis for the film:

During the Second World War, an American bomber pilot and his crew are shot down from the sky and captured by the Germans. As orders are sent to execute the pilot and 9,000 other POW, the German officer in charge, Schwarzenegger, refuses to carry them out.

Doing this film could be part of his push to go beyond the action movies and one-liners that defined his career int he ’80s and ’90s. Mr. Schwarzenegger evidently understands that he can’t keep playing the same role:

In the future I have to adapt my roles to my age. Clint Eastwood also has done it in the same way. Extreme fighting or shooting is not possible anymore. I want to be more encouraged as an actor and I believe that I can manage this challenge. I am like a sponge, which is absorbing all the knowledge and always be willing to learn all new things.
