The Caveman Of Atomic City
A film by Paul and Petra Ratner

WHAT IS THE FILM ABOUT?

The story is about a man who calls himself "micromike" (written as µmike), a scientist and philosopher who sold all his possessions and lived for years in a cave on the territory of the Los Alamos National Lab in New Mexico, the birthplace of nuclear weapons.

Micromike is a very compelling personality - a modern Thoreau who roams forests and thinks remarkable ideas to improve human lives. The film chronicles µmike's struggle to get institutional scientists to listen to his theories that claim to improve upon Einstein... micromike champions peace and freedom in a town known for war and secrecy. A Vietnam vet, µmike also survived personal tragedy that came with the death of his son and dedicated himself to spreading his model of universal interconnectedness called "Gravionics." This model attempts to unite science and spirituality. Our film questions what should or should not be considered "real" science and probes our ideals as a society, where brawn has generally been celebrated over brain.

As micromike says, "there are particles in my body that were made on Mars." Everything is part of everything and what you do affects others both physically and spiritually. Kickstarter is a cool example of that in its sheer existence. Thanks in advance for helping us make this beautiful film!

WHAT HELP WE NEED AND WHY

We've been working on this film for the past few years and have already shot dozens of hours of great footage. We estimate that we need around $15,000 to finish the project. This would include the costs for additional photography with µmike, editing, sound post-production, music, color correction, mastering, copies, film festival fees, and publicity. This film has been a real heart project, and we need to finish it to spread Mike's amazing ideas and story to the world. This film will make people think about life from a very different and necessary perspective.

WHEN THE FILM WILL BE FINISHED

Due to the exposure in the media when he was found living in the cave, "micromike" has fans all over the world who have been emailing us since we posted the teaser, asking when this film will come out.

With your help, we plan to finish this film in early 2011, for a summer 2011 release via film festivals and online.
