BIOGRAPHY:
My name is Joshua McDonald.

I am an actor from a small town know as Bay Springs located in Mississippi. I usually tell people "I'm just a kid form Mississippi. A kid looking to prove that he is worth more than what people rub him off as."

Growing up I didn't really have a childhood that you would call happy. I was constantly bullied in school for being different. Also I never really had many friends growing up other than my mother, sister & grandfather. I didn't really have the best relationship with my father. He always made me feel like that I would never amount to anything in life. My only escape from any form of pain in my life were films.

When I was two years old I was introduced to films & acting. My first film was the 1993 Steven Spielberg film "Jurassic Park." I was so moved by the film that after it ended I said "I want to learn how to help make movies." In the years to come after watching a handful of films after "Jurassic Park" I would begin to use my imagination & play with my cousin. We would imagine ourselves as dinosaurs, Godzilla, or any other creature either fiction or real. Little did I know at the time, even though I was a child, I was born to be an actor.

Years later at the age of 16 I joined my first theatre group in my hometown Bay Springs. A group called "Bay Springs Theatre Group." I played in two small Christmas productions & had a blast. After a year of operation the group was sadly shut down due to lack of business. Due to this major emotional blow I backed away from acting & fell into despair.

In the months after the group shut down I tried to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. So I went to College for just one semester. I dropped out shortly after the semester ended because College wasn't for me. Afterwards I looked for employment in Bay Springs to provide income for myself. I eventually landed employment for Lowe's Home Improvement. I remained with the company for over a year & became angry at myself for backing away from my dreams.

After a year of employment with Lowe's I left the company to make something of myself. My father was not too happy with my decision & said "You always make stupid decisions." I once said to him before I quit Lowe's "I am not happy with being at Lowe's & feel that I am worth more than what life has given me. But you don't seem to care about how I feel."

In the months after leaving Lowe's I continued to sign up for employment for random companies around my hometown. No luck. Eventually I came across an add for a film looking for stand in extras. A film titled "Same Kind of Different as Me." After I signed up for the gig I received a phone call from the director saying I got the job. I was extremely excited. I viewed it as the beginning of a new chapter in my life. Sadly they cancelled my time to be there. I was beyond disappointed.

In the days after I begun to search for any acting schools around the U.S.. I eventually came across the "Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute" through Scarlett Johansson's biography. Immediately after discovering this school I begun to look up information about it. After seeing the amount of successful people they have trained I wanted to go to this school to enhance my abilities to act. My mother made me a deal. An offer I couldn't refuse. She said "You will go to this school & you will go the whole year. You drop out a semester or two afterwards. You're on your own." I replied "Deal."

Shortly after the deal we slowly revealed to my father what I wanted to do. His reaction was nothing but outrage. Pure angry outrage. My mother & uncle came to my defense & said for him to let me go. Once I became accepted into the school my father promised to support me through the year of training.

I moved to New York in June 2015 to attend the school. It was amazing being in the institute. When I say amazing I mean amazing. I loved every minute of being inside of the school. I felt at home. It made my love for performing grow to new heights. It gave me the desire to tell stories through characters. Whenever I perform I feel at peace. I feel like I am home. I feel pure happiness when I am acting.

Now here I am one year later. Recently graduated from the school attempting to be discovered by some of this industry's elite. After graduating the school in April I have been involved in a few small theatre gigs both in acting & stage crew. I have filmed one student film in May 2016. I am now desperately & eagerly looking for more work as an actor. My soul is hungry for more acting. Acting is on my mind 24/7. I love acting more than life itself.

I am a Method Actor!
