Monty is likeable, charismatic and cocky. He can be, because he’s that good at DJing. Monty has a great show, where other rappers and DJs want to be guests. Monty is on the rise and he is leaving the radio station behind. Monty is Max’s mentor and friend, but won’t let Max get by without doing the hard work

The neighborhood tough guy, who employs Max and Terry. Oscar pays Max for small DJ jobs in the neighborhood, birthday parties, etc. It’s his way of looking out for Max, an obligation to Terry for never giving him up when he went to prison. Oscar’s day job is stealing cars. He has Terry steal them, then chops them up for cash. He’s dangerous and powerful in the neighborhood. Anyone who gets in his way will be met with force. For a tough guy, Oscar is a family man who loves his daughter, never using drugs or guns.

From the same neighborhood as Max, who has her head on straight. She’s strong willed, and street smart. She sees the good in the world and makes that part of her life. She is an exercise teacher at her aunt’s gym in downtown Brooklyn, soon to be taking over as the owner. Liza used to hangout in the neighborhood, but with a good family life, and head on her shoulders, she has created a positive healthy life for herself. Liza sees something endearing in Max. Max makes her laugh and she takes to him. She nurtures him and can see the good in him, and knows that if he stays focused, he can reach his goals. Liza is Max’s love interest.

Max’s older brother. He’s too smart for his own good and always wants the easy way out. He’s edgier and more dangerous than Max. Terry loves his brother Max, but always chooses the wrong way in life, working for Oscar, stealing cars. Terry doesn’t know how to do the right thing. Terry went to jail for 3 years, taking the heat for stealing with Oscar. He left Max to deal with his grandmother and when he returns he wants his place in the family, as father figure.

He stocks shelves in a supermarket to make ends meet and has a positive, excited outlook towards the world and his future. He has endured years without his mother or father, left to care for his aging Grandmother. Max was also abandoned by his older brother, Terry, to a three year prison sentence for stealing cars. Max looks up to his mentor, Monty, a neighborhood DJ who is on the rise and has fame in the underground DJ world. Now that his brother is back, Max must free himself of Terry’s grasp to become the DJ he knows he can be. Max eventually takes control of his destiny, ridding himself of the negative influences that block his path.
